Originally from Moldova, Aliona Laker is the founder of Prospect Consultancy and Fundraising Ltd. and the principal management and fundraising consultant. Aliona is a Chartered Manager with over twenty years experience at a senior level in the charitable and public sectors, particularly within the health, education and social care fields. Since setting up Prospect Consultancy Aliona successfully completed a large number of projects which include the delivery of consultancy focusing on organisational strategy, governance, financial controls, sustainability and evaluation for a range of VCOs on behalf of the Family and Parenting Institute, as well as providing consultancy to a range of other charities on strategic planning, governance, change management, financial planning and processes, recruitment of key staff, management & fundraising mentoring, fundraising consultancy and training. Aliona is a practicing Interim CEO, a Certified Instructor for SoLogic Root Cause Analysis and a Transformation Consultant with Interserve (Justice).

Prior to founding Prospect Consultancy Aliona has been the Chief Executive of two Norfolk charities, Norfolk and Norwich Families’ House and Family First Charity. She also worked in a development role with Norfolk County Council Education Department.

In Moldova Aliona practiced as a Consultant Speech and Language Therapist before being promoted to senior levels within the Health and Education Authorities. Her last assignment in Moldova was the position of Chairperson of the Regional Medico-Educational Committee where she was responsible for the work carried out by a joint committee of specialists in medicine, psychology and education assessing referred children and young people who provisionally were diagnosed as having Special Educational Needs. Whilst working in Moldova Aliona provided consultancy and advice to her counterparts in Romania on the development of a Speech and Language Therapy service and Education of Children with Special Needs.

Aliona has a MSc in Charity Resource Management, a BSc (Hons) in the Speech and Language Therapy and the Psychology & Education of Children with Special Needs, a Postgraduate Certificate in Management Studies, a Certificate in Fundraising Management and ACIE Charity Accounting Certificate. She is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and for a number of years held the position of Chairman and Secretary of the Norfolk Branch of the CMI. Aliona is a Certified Member of the Institute of Fundraising and an Affiliate member of the Association of Charity Independent Examiners.  Her additional languages are Russian and Moldovan.  Aliona is devoting some of her time to undertaking voluntary work by being a Trustee, a high school Governor and an external assessor with internal CQC audit team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
